Abstract Hypochthoniella minutissima (Berlese, 1904) is newly reported from Guilan Province Iran. After comparison with the original description and redescriptions, we here provide an expanded description, including illustrations for the adult, based on the material collected from Guilan Province Iran. A checklist and an identification key to the twenty species of arthronotic oribatid mites of Guilan Province are provided. The genus and subgenus Eohypochthonius (Eohypochthonius) Jacot, and Eohypochthonius (Eohypochthonius) magnus Aoki, E. (E.) crassisetiger Aoki, Cosmochthonius (Cosmochthonius) plumatus Berlese, Brachychthonius impressus Moritz and B. hungaricus (Balogh) are new records for Iran mite fauna.

Abstract In the course of a faunistic survey on oppiid mites in Alborz Province, 29 oppiid mite species (Oribatida: Oppiidae) belonging to 11 genera were identified from soil and litter samples, of which three species and one subspecies are new records for the mite fauna of Iran. For new species records, a brief diagnostic characterization is provided. A key to the subfamilies, genera and subgenera of Alborz Province is given. Moreover, a key to species for genera with more than one species is presented.

Abstract An eriophyoid species from Iran is described and illustrated. It is Acerimina bajgahi sp. nov. that has been found on hybrid of a Rosa species (Rosaceae) from south of Iran, Shiraz. This species is new to science and the genus is new record for Iranian mite fauna. It causes witches' broom of terminal twigs of the host plant. A key to the species of Acerimina of the world is provided. A key to world species of Acerimina is provided.

Abstract Fig mite, Eotetranychus hirsti Pritchard & Baker, 1955, is one of the major pests of fig trees in Estahban (Fars province, Iran). Life table parameters of E. hirsti were studied at 30±1 °C, 60±10% R.H. and 12:12 h (dark: light) photoperiod in 50 replications. The newly laid eggs were placed on the upward surface of fig leaves that were surrounded with a thinned strip of cotton to inhibit mites escaping from Petri dishes. Daily fertility, preimaginal developmental time and mortality rate were analyzed with age-stage, two sex life table analysis software. The result indicated that the developmental times of egg, larva, protochrysalis, protonymph, deutochrysalis, deutonymph and teliochrysalis were 4.32± 0.097, 1.38± 0.069, 1±0, 1.4± 0.07, 1.06± 0.034, 1.4± 0.07, and 1±0 days, respectively. Maximum adult longevity was 8 and 16 days for male and female mites, respectively. Pre-oviposition period, total pre-oviposition period (counted from birth to adult) were 1.5±0.076 and 13.16± 0.133 days, respectively. The mean generation time, net reproduction rate, the intrinsic rate of natural increase and the finite rate of increase were 18.47+0.15 days, 40.5+2.17 offspring, 0.2004+0.003(d-1), and 1.221+0.004 (d-1), respectively. The two-sex life table analysis gives a comprehensive description of the stage differentiation of, Eotetranychus hirsti.

Abstract A new species of the sand-mite or chigger Schoengastia Oudemans, 1910 collected from the soil under camel’s thorn (Alhagi maurorum Medik) in Iran is described. The diagnosis of the new species is in conformity with the subgenus Priomesochela Vercammen-Grandjean et Langston, 1976, the specific characters are drip-dropping shaped sensilla, shortest scutal setae and least number in idiosomal setae in the subgenus.
